The Metrohm 811 Online IC is designed to provide optimum IC analysis in accordance with industry standards. The 811 Online IC can be custom-tailored to any online IC application. The standard version is a one-channel instrument that allows to analyze either cations or anions. The dual-channel version is designed to analyze cations and anions simultaneously. The sample sequence is freely programmable. For every single sample stream a freely defined number of ions can be analyzed and monitored. Special control cards show at a glance whether the values are inside the required concentration ranges.
The IC system itself consists of top-class components that have been used for many years in the modular Metrohm IC systems. The whole system is designed to require very little maintenance. The whole instrument can be remote-controlled. The Online IC is designed such that it can also be used by non-chemists.

Modular anion or cation system with electronic suppression The modular anion or cation system consists of three components: the low-pulsation 709 IC Pump, the 733 IC Separation Center and the high-performance 732 Detector.
The system convinces with its high performance and favorably priced construction. The Metrohm IC Detector detects very low concentrations (< 10 ppb) of cations and anions. The 709 IC Pump additionally improves the signal-to-noise ratio.
As work is carried out without chemical suppression the range of eluents which can be used is virtually unlimited. In this way difficult separation problems can be solved without any restrictions being imposed by the eluent system or the chemical suppressor.

Gradients in Ion Chromatography
The new 828 IC Dual Suppressor allows to chemically suppress all types of anion eluents, e.g. carbonate/bicarbonate and hydroxide eluents. This suppression step works continuously using electrochemical generation of the required H+ ions. Subsequent to the chemical suppression the CO2 suppression takes place, removing any excess of carbonic acid from the eluent. As a result the background conductivity is reduced dramatically, especially for carbonate/bicarbonate eluents. The Water Dip is minimized and any system peak disappears.
When using the 828 IC Dual Suppressor for generating gradients in ion chromatography, again all types of eluents may be used successfully, including the very effective carbonate/bicarbonate system, which is much more flexible than the earlier used hydroxide eluents. The combination of the weakly eluting monovalent bicarbonate and the strongly eluting divalent carbonate ion results in very flexible yet low-concentration gradient systems whereas the weak hydroxide eluents require high concentrations.

Eluents and regeneration and rinsing solutions are cheap to prepare. Even with a high sample throughput the running costs can be kept very low. That the software belongs to the instrument and does not need to be purchased separately is a matter of course.
